The World of Mens Dress Shoes - My Favorites

Navigating the world of men’s dress shoes can be a bit head-spinning. This image may help. I’m going to work out which ones are my favorites in each category.

LACE-UPS

#1 - WHOLECUT - I really like the whole cut for a more formal vibe. Something about 1 piece of leather utilized to create the shoe that makes it unique. No fuss - all business.

#2 - Wing Tip - Not shown, but I like a long wing. Where the wing runs the length of the shoe down the side. Something like this.

SLIP-ONS

#1 - Tassel Loafer - Classic and looks good in suede or leather.

#2 - Minimalist - Not shown, but just take the tassel loafer and drop the tassels. Something like this.

FORMAL

#1 - Black Oxford- Spit shined is better than patent leather in my book. You can wear them in other scenarios, too.

#2 - Not shown, but I like a Belgian for formal. Something like this.

BOOTS

#1 - Chelsea. Classic and works in pretty much any material and shade. Dress them up or down.

#2 - Chukka (aka Desert Boot) - I wear these a ton. San suede is my go-to. Beat them up, they look cooler the more miles you put on them. Like this.

STRAPS

#1 - Double Monk - That’s it. It’s the only one. (OK, single is OK for more formal, but not my vibe) If you go three straps we have to break up.

PERFORATION

#1 - I guess I’d go quarter here. Less is more with adornment for me. Brown or Black variations are cool.

Alright - thoughts? Let me have it. ✌️
