Personal Review: Smartwool Socks

My buddy Kris swears by these, so I had to take the leap and review these for the ASC cause.

We all love socks. We all have to wear them daily, so yeah, we might as well get some we love.

I feel like socks are in the same camp as T-shirts. I am forever on the hunt for the perfect pair. It’s an endless journey because I’m not sure perfect exists…but these are legit.

Let’s start with the name. Smartwool is the company name derived from its utilization of Merino Wool in all of its products.

As they put it:

“Merino wool is a natural fiber grown by Merino sheep. It’s thinner and softer than regular wool—making it easy to wear next to the skin. And when you wear wool next to the skin, many benefits come with it. We choose to work with Merino wool because it’s pretty darn perfect for every adventure regardless of the season. Each fiber naturally helps regulate body temperature, transports sweat away as a vapor, and cancels out odors”.

OK, so what do I think?

1/ Athletic Targeted Cushion Stripe Crew 2 Pack Socks - They are correct in saying they’re super comfortable. You can order by foot size, which is excellent, and the pairs I received fit great. The workout socks were padded in the right spots and not too thin yet not too thick. I also love the height of their crew. (I’m over ankle socks) I ordered these as they were on sale, but the next pairs will most likely be solid black, solid gray, and solid white. Honestly, the only thing I don’t like about these is the little logo smartwool man that’s on the back of the sock. It’s not needed, in my opinion. (I’m not a logo guy). I’ll report back if anything changes but so far (a few workouts in) these are as good as you will find. Recommended.

2/ Hike Classic Edition Full Cushion Crew Socks - These are comfy. A little thick, but hey there are hiking socks. I wear a lot of boots and thought these would be nice. I ordered the sage and the deep navy. Loved the colors. A little too early to tell how they hold up with multiple washes but it looks like they may begin to peel. These have instantly become my most comfortable “around the house” socks. If I was headed to a campfire I for sure would wear these. Recommended.
